FOUNDER MEETING PARIS, MAY 1947

ASCA, the Airlines Sports and Cultural Association, is an association organizing sports competitions and cultural events for the staff of member airlines. Its objective is to promote and encourage social, cultural and sporting relations amongst airline staff.

The membership to ASCA is open to any airline, operating scheduled or charter flights and is free of charge to the company. The airline must have a delegate for coordination with ASCA and must have at least three types of sports or cultural activities to participate in competitions.

The foundation meeting was helt in Paris, May 1947 – hosted by Air France.

 

WHO IS MEMBER?
Today, ASCA has 18 active members. The list of members is shown under the menue Organisation/ memebrs. The executive committee is in contact with more airlines who are interested in a membership.



WHICH SPORTS COMPETITIONS ARE ORGANIZED BY ASCA?
Currently, the association organizes sports competitions in more than 25 different sports. The complete list is shown under the menu Organisation/ available Sports and rules. All competitions are alternatively hosted by the member airlines. But that’s not all. Apart from the sports competitions, ASCA also organizes a number of cultural events, such as bridge, philatelic, photo, pictorial art and sculpture.



WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITIONS AND HOW CAN THEY BE ORGANIZED?
As per ASCA regulations, any member airline employee is entitled to participate in the competitions. The host of a competition prepares a package for the competition (hotel, dinners/lunches, transport) and communicates it to the participating teams.
